An Open Letter to Apple: iPadOS 14 bugs

It´s clear, Apple produces great hardware and software.

But Apple often does not go the last required step to get things also right.

And in addition, some things are still missing after years.

As i tried to contact Apple Support about some of those points, it got clear that they are not the right people to contact. They can and will mostly help with actual problems with using the products Apple offers, not with changing or enhancing those products.

To get Apple to change and fix things, you can only try to use the feedback webpage, which may get the attention of the developers.

So, i am going to try this way, but as many things are difficult to explain without screenshots and videos, i start to write some little articles about those points which i can then also forward to Apple.

Current bugs, as of iPadOS 14 and 14.0.1

Mixed sizes of icons on the screens

I have this on both an iPad Pro 12.9 with iPadOS 14 and an iPad Air 3 with iPadOS 14.0.1

Best shown with images:

The same happens on all screens:

And after switching screens or using some App, the icons that are shown smaller suddenly differ, so it´s a dynamic process:

I hope, this get´s fixed with the next update — but as i did not hear about this problem from other people, it may be a rare thing to happen.

Still, why are both iPads affected?

ADDON

I like a way to add the widgets constantly to the home screen, but i do not like that this only works with small icons. To be honest, i hate the small icons.

Apple, please allow more narrow spaces between icons without forcing us to use those small icons. Just make the spacing more narrow, there is plenty of space!

And to add this as well, Android offers a way to customize rows and columns nearly freely! Why can’t you do this, Apple?
